Photos: Spring Mill State Park
Hi all! It’s been quite a while since I’ve made a post and I’m sorry about that. I have been so busy with my job… my blog has taken a backseat. I am happy that my work has picked up though! = ) I did get an opportunity to take some time and go to this wonderful state park I love. There are caves (unfortunately all but one closed to public due to white-nose syndrome for bats), lots of natural areas and trails to walk and see, campground, picnic areas, nature center and a pioneer village with an operating grist mill that makes corn meal every hour. I grew up going here and still love it today and so do my kids. Here are some photos I took recently while I was there. (there may be more than one post of these photos as I took some of the village and some of wildlife).
In this photo below you can see the flumes that bring water to the wheel of the mill and in the right portion is a little bit of the saw mill. The water comes from a cave back in the woods behind here. It feeds the mill and also forms a creek that runs through the village.
This is not even all of the buildings you can see at this village. These are open during the day (9 to 5 EST) with interpreters dressed to period telling you about each house and the family who would have lived there. Here is a link to the Parks website.. http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/2968.htm
They also have an Inn that you can stay at on your visit if you like…http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/inns/springmill/

Photo Post – Happy 4th of July!
Ok… so I’m pretty stoked about this post! I have been wanting to try to take firework pictures for a few years but have never done it… until this year! Since this was my first attempt there were some shaky ones and ones that didn’t turn out very good but by the end I had some decent shots I was happy with. I did learn that I definitely want to get a remote for long shots to help with eliminating camera shake but overall I’m really happy with my first attempt. Find a few of my favorites below!
This last one is my personal favorite of the night! Feel free to leave comments. Enjoy!

Photo Post – River boating
I wanted to post a new photo post for you all. We recently took a little boat trip out on a nearby river and here are just a few shots I took. It was very peaceful and we were able to spend quite a few hours out on the water. Though right now in my area it is way too hot unless you’re getting in the water or you go out really early! I’ve got a few shots here of a bridge we came upon and went under then just some general shots of landscapes as we cruised along.
Feel free to leave comments.
Enjoy!

Photo Post – Making a splash
Over the past weekend I got together with some family and friends. We were invited to a pool party/fish fry at a friend’s house. We all had a great time and gave me a great opportunity to capture some neat photos. The only down side was the temperatures dropped in our area a few days before which made the pool water so cold. Of course, you can’t keep the kids out of the water no matter how cold. lol You just had to jump in because there was no easing into it. 🙂 Here are some action shots and big splashes I captured.
Cannonball!
and the aftermath! Gotcha = )
The last two of the splashes, I made a little larger because they seem distorted and didn’t look right to me when I put them in the post. Plus you can really the see the detail better when they are enlarged. I loved capturing the splashes because every one was so different. Feel free to leave comments.

Photos-Basketball Dog
I’ve got another photo post I wanted to put up. I saw a photo contest for a local store and you could enter into different categories… one happened to be best dressed. My poor dog, Bandit, was my model for this photo shoot. I personally think he is super cute and here are a few of the shots I got. I still don’t know what I’ll choose for the contest and I actually have more shots to go through but here are a few I’ve chosen to share with you all. 🙂
This first one I actually edited to black and white and came back in and added spots of color to make it pop (I love to do that and use it for my kids photos as well).
This next one… since he is wearing a basketball jersey… to me says “Coach, put me in!” People get such a kick out of him because he stands up like a person sometimes when he is watching stuff.
Last one for this post… Finally I got the ball!
He is so funny to watch. He actually kicks it around more like a soccer ball. My husband and kids love to roll the ball towards him and watch him move it around the yard.
Feel free to leave your comments!

Photos – Hindostan Falls
Its been quite a while since I’ve done a photo post… so I thought it was time to get back and do another posting. I love photography but just can’t always make the time between work and family.
This set of photos is from a day we went to a place called Hindostan Falls. It is in Martin County, Indiana. There are a set of rock falls here but the water was up a little high this day so I didn’t get a good picture of the falls but I did capture some other shots I really liked.
This first one is at the end of our trip. The sun was just starting to set. In the middle of the picture you can see some ripples in the water which is part of the rocks of the fall that are underwater at the time of this picture.
Waiting for a fish
This one is a shell I found while walking along the side of the river. It just looked old and interesting to me.
The last one in this post is some roots along the bank. Time and the rising and falling of the river has revealed this tangle of roots.
I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do. Feel free to leave feedback! 🙂

Free (25) 4X6 Prints from Walgreens (4/5)
Anyone need to print some photos? Well today you can get 25 prints (4X6 size) for free at Walgreens. I have used Walgreens before and get nice quality glossy prints, so this deal is great for me. I always have pictures of the kids, horses, etc. to print so I love it when they do free prints. I already have a photo account set up with them, but if you don’t you can do it pretty quickly. Then upload your pictures you want to print, add them to your cart. Then where it asks you for a coupon code use this one – FREEDEAL – to get your 25 prints free. It will take $4.75 off your total. I actually ordered 27 prints and so I will get all 27 for just $0.41 after tax. You will also want to select to pick them up in store so you won’t have any shipping fees. Below I copied part of the print order confirmation so that you can see how it worked! Now go grab your free pics!

Photos – More Snow Day Fun (Animals)
So here are a few more photos I decided to post from our snow day on the 5th. We are having some warmer weather now and lots of rain will probably be coming so this may have been our last snow day for the winter, but who knows…lol
Here are some pictures I snapped of our horses and I may throw in one of my beagle… just because I love him so. 🙂
Watching at the gate for the hay bale
Yea – more hay!
One last one of my beagle : )

Photos: March Snow Day
It’s been a while since I’ve went out and taken any pictures so this snow day I thought I would take the chance to capture some before it melted. Our crazy weather this year hasn’t left us with many snow days, but I don’t mind! haha We just got the snow last night and it has already mostly melted off now, but I was able to grab a few pictures of it this morning.
Here are a few branches that kept some snow on them. They just caught my eye and I had to snap a few shots.
I love this little bud… Looks like a santa hat on it.
And a couple final shots of some landscapes. I love how the red pops against the snow in the second one.
Enjoy!

Photos – Basketball (Last game of the season)
I’m back with a new photo post. It’s another basketball one. This was my son’s last junior high game. Bittersweet knowing he’s going into high school, but exciting at the same time looking forward to the new challenges. They played a super hard game, but the calls by the ref’s were terrible and very one-sided, but that is nothing new for our school unfortunately. On to the photos! (Note: My boy is #22 on the blue team)
Here’s one of him racing down the court. He’s in the blue jersey driving the ball down the floor on a fast break.
Here’s one of him shooting. It came out a little blurry, but he liked his form and the shot.
Here’s a free throw shot he’s taking that I edited for him.
Here’s one final one of him taking a shot off in the right corner.
Enjoy!

Photo post #10 – dirtbikes
It’s been a while since I posted some pictures so I thought I’d make another one tonight. Here is some “riding pictures” I took .

B&W photos
Well its been a couple of days since I posted some photos. Today I feel like some black and white photos. I know black and whites aren’t for everyone, but sometimes I like them more than color. Here are just a few from me = )
This first one is of a flower. When I saw it the petals to me looked like they could be painted on. It’s like you can see the brush strokes.
Here’s a close up of a rose after the rain.

Today I think I’ll post some photos from Williams, Indiana of the covered bridge and also the river and dam there. It’s a small little town, but there are a lot of neat photo opportunities there. Here are a few that I have captured.
Here is one of William’s Dam. The water was really high at this time.
Here’s a shot down river from the dam that I came back and shot another time when the water was really low.
Here is a little shell I found on the bank.
Here is one of the covered bridge right down the road. This bridge is now closed down to foot traffic only. This was taken off the new bridge that they built.
I’m sure I’ll have more at some point of this little town because there are so many different things to capture there!
Enjoy!

Photos #8 – Basketball
I’m back with a new photo post as promised, but I didn’t get to put them up yesterday like I thought. I will just give you a small sampling of what I took (some of my favorites). We didn’t win, but I had fun watching/taking pictures anyway. My son is #22 on the white/blue team.
This first one is him hitting a technical shot. The other team reached across the out-of-bounds line and touched the ball as it was being inbounded.
This one is of him taking the ball down the court.
Here’s a free throw shot.
Did it go in??? Yep!
Here he is going up for a shot. (Watch out for the big man behind ya!)
Last one.. here he is getting ready to catch an inbound pass.
Some didn’t turn out as well as I hoped, but I’ll just keep trying because I love taking photos!
Enjoy!

Today I think I’ll just post some random nature pics that I have taken.
First is of a little creek that runs behind the house.
Here is one of a snowy lane.
This one was at fall time obviously… I just really liked that yellowish tree for some reason.
Here is the moon in the daytime.
And this one is at night, but the picture is not the best but it just looks cool to me.
If you want to see more of my pics go to categories on the right side of the page and look through the photography category. There are 5 more posts with pictures so far.
Enjoy!

Ready for more photos!? I’m getting a late start on the photo post today. We had crazy storms here this morning and it knocked the power out for a while and threw my whole day behind.
Today’s are going to be some photos of some cute baby animals. I am a sucker for little baby animals… so here is a post with a few of the pictures I’ve taken. = )
First, here’s a momma and her newborn…
Here is a little baby calf all curled up in the hay.
Here’s a cute little baby bull. I just love his little white forehead!
Here are a couple of some cute baby deer. They were in our horse pasture and actually let me get a lot closer than I thought I could. They were soooo cute.
For one last one. Here is my dog Bandit again, but when he was just a puppy! ❤
Enjoy!

Wow! I am so behind today. I haven’t posted at all yet today, but I spent the day with my hubby so it wasn’t a waste. = ) I’ve been debating on what pictures to share today and even as I write this I’m still considering what to share……… I guess I have decided today to go with some interesting and different pictures of the sky. Tomorrow…hmm, maybe some of our horses, maybe our boys sports pics or even some baby cows or deer… Leave me some comments and let me know what you would like to see next!
This was a beautiful golden sunset.
These were some strange red clouds this day.
Sun rays breaking through the clouds.
And finally a blue sky with some really white fluffy clouds.
Enjoy!

Photos #3 – Calling all dog lovers
Today I think I’ll share some photos of my dog, Bandit. He is quite the model…lol
Here are some photos we took in the woods at home.
I got lucky on this one and he just happened to be sticking his tongue out. = )
Here is one of him at the gate watching the horses.
I have so many more I could share, but I’ll stop at 3 for today. I hope you love them as much as I do!
Enjoy!

Photo share #2
New day, new photos to share!
Today I think I’ll post some random summer photos because it’s cold and I’m dreaming of when it will be warmer again = )
This one is a pic I took of a little bee working in a honeysuckle plant. I did a little editing to it just for fun.
This next one is a close up of a butterfly. I just love the blue color on its wings.
The last one for this post is another butterfly working in a flower. You can even see the pollen on its wings.
Enjoy ’till next time!
